I will give you a hint, if you search “cheap general contractor near me” we will not pop up. We aim for quality and that comes with a price. On the other extreme, if you search “who is the most expensive general contractor in Bothell?” we also for sure are not going to come up. We aim for middle ground, fair price that covers our expenses, lets us enjoy being on the job and at work because we are earning enough to pay for our families needs and wants, and also isn't drying up your bank account just to do a remodel.
I don't think anyone is searching “female general contractor Snohomish County,” because I don't think there are enough women in construction as the lead on jobs or as the general contractor for people to think that they should be searching for a woman general contractor or that they even can. That's super interesting because women have impeccable skills as managers, delegators, communicators, etc. - a ton of skills that make a good general contractor. In my personal experience, the few general contractors that are female that I've seen, they are extremely professional, charismatic and knowledgeable, whether or not they're doing the work or strictly managing. On the other hand, I've seen quite a few male general contractors and for as many that I've met that I like how they work, how they interact with people and present themselves, I've met or heard about just as many that are embarrass me to be in the same trade as them, unprofessional, very absent on the job site, and are very inappropriate with the women homeowners. It's very disappointing but it's one of the reasons that I continue to be a general contractor and to be in the construction industry - because I want to stand up for the women and anyone, really, who does not want to get bulldozed over by a GC with a big ego. I don't ever like to talk shit about other people or professionals but I also want to make it clear that I am not blind or ignorant.
